As another turbulent year in terms of production comes to an end, we cannot but reflect on the obstacles faced by many in our industry. Adverse weather conditions, coupled with the destruction caused by fires and floods, gave rise to significant hardships, especially for beekeepers who depend on their craft for income.

In Evros, today we have active producers with no resources for new blooms, as vast areas of land have been destroyed by wildfires. These areas were home to crucial blooms for the variety of the greek production and played an essential role in supporting professional beekeeping across a large region.

Similarly, the floods in Central Greece have caused significant damage to the beekeepers’ equipment (hives, trucks, warehouses) in an environment that still remains, awaiting producers to harvest.

After such a challenging year for our partners, we decided that instead of offering traditional gifts, we would contribute to the OMSE campaign for the purchase and shipment of new hives to affected producers. In place of our usual calendar, we made a sponsorship contribution to the “Donate a Hive” campaign powered by OMSE. Our priority is to support the growth of the greek beekeeping, which produces a unique product that we all so much cherish – the greek honey.
