Since 2002, ATTIKI has been following an integral support programme of organised apiculture activities, and has integrated into its organisational structure an independent department for the development of apiculture, manned by agronomists with much experience in beekeeping.

This department, together with the Purchases Department, has developed a number of incentives aiming at the improvement and reinforcement of the beekeeping sector and comprises incentives such as:

1
  • Informing beekeepers on the legislation in force, the subsidies provided and the possibility of their activity being financed;
  • Creating and distributing booklets featuring practical lessons and advice related to the sector, the way in which work is organised during the various seasons of the year and training in beekeeping practices;
  • Providing seminars and training sessions with independent educators and university professors on beekeeping, in order to transform beekeeping from an amateur activity into a reputable profession, to make production phases more efficient and manage potential risks
  • Organising informative meetings with groups of beekeepers to exchange ideas and collectively resolve any production problems.

It is through such activities that the know-how of beekeepers has increased, resulting in the improvement of both the quality and quantity of the product.

The scope of the structured Apiculture Development Department of our Company is to provide advice, to support and provide its beekeepers with educational material, so as to optimise practices and improve the quality of the final product.

Also, we provide beekeepers with the opportunity to acquire their equipment from us in order to modernise production, according to certain specifications, resulting in major advantages in sales. We have a close and longstanding relationship with our beekeepers. Neither side is restricted by formal obligations.

5Each year, we:

  • Visit 200 producers
  • Organise 10 group meetings (one per geographic zone) with between 20 and 100 producers
  • Organise tours / meetings with 2,000 beekeepers and training courses throughout Greece

Every two years, we organise Pan-Hellenic meetings in Athens and Thessaloniki, for the purpose of:

  • consolidating relations;
  • exchanging ideas; and
  • creating that feeling of belonging to a "group".

Also, for our future partners, we organise seminars on specific beekeeping practices for adults under the age of 30 (from all of Greece) and for the children of our partners.
