Greek honey outclasses the honey produced in other countries in terms of its organoleptic characteristics (aroma, taste and thickness), because of the many hours of sunshine enjoyed in Greece, the country’s soil and, mainly, its lush flora, comprising an assortment of flowers, herbs and trees. Approximately 1,000 plants found in Greece are not found anywhere else in the world. The floral source of Greek honey determines its colour, taste, thickness and aroma.
Eight pure Greek honey varieties have been identified: thyme, pine, fir, cotton, sunflower, heather, chestnut and orange blossom.
Most of the honey produced in Greece comes from pines (60-65%), fir honey accounts for 5-10% of production, and thyme honey for 10%. The rest are blossom honey from several varieties.
ATTIKI, having recognised the quality and uniqueness of Greek honey, only packages and markets Greek honey, as pure as the honey in the hive, making its brand synonymous with top quality honey throughout the world.
